Why it's so important to get your little one’s feet measured and measured..
As a parent, you want to ensure that your child's development is on the right track. One important aspect to consider is the proper development of their feet, especially during the pre-walking stage. But why is it crucial to get your babies' feet measured?
- Understanding the Growth of Baby Feet
Our feet aren't fully formed until we are about 13-18 years old, a baby's foot can grow up to two sizes in just three months?
Babies' feet are constantly changing and developing, when they are born are tiny, soft and mostly cartilage. This is why it's essential to have their feet measured regularly. Properly fitting shoes are crucial for their comfort and overall foot health. When children are fully grown they have a total 26 bones, 33 joints and over 100 muscles, tendons & ligaments in each foot.
- The Impact of Ill-Fitting Shoes
Ill-fitting shoes can lead to a range of issues, including blisters, calluses, and even long-term foot problems. For little ones who are just starting to explore the world on their feet, uncomfortable shoes can hinder their development and cause unnecessary discomfort.
- The Role of Proper Support
During the pre-walking stage, babies are strengthening the muscles in their feet and learning to balance. Shoes that provide proper support and a good fit can aid in this process. Getting your little one's feet measured ensures that they have the right shoes to support their development.
Children should start wearing the right type of shoe at the right time for their development. As the bones start to harden and the foot develops, your child's foot needs room to grow. Their toes especially need to move freely to support their balance.
They will need shoes for protection. However, it is important that you don't rush it. Barefoot is best for as long as possible.
- The Importance of Professional Measurement
While it may be tempting to estimate your child's shoe size or rely on general guidelines, professional measurement is the most accurate way to ensure the right fit.

Their first shoes should be:
